Private Residence Permeable Paver Retrofit

Location:  New Castle County, Delaware

Funding Support:  White Clay Wild and Scenic River Funding via the Catch the Rain Program, Homeowners

A residential property in New Castle County replaced its existing asphalt driveway and base with an approximately 2,000 square-foot permeable paver system. The retrofit removed substantial impervious surface from the parcel and replaced it with a stormwater-managing system that allows rainfall to infiltrate through the driveway surface into a constructed gravel base rather than running off toward the garage and back yard area creating hazardous winter conditions and areas of erosion.
