A single-family residential property in Newark, Delaware had an impervious asphalt driveway and concrete walkway generating substantial stormwater runoff toward the storm sewer replaced with permeable pavers. Working with a contractor, the owners undertook a permeable paver retrofit of both the driveway and front walkway, paired with a 12-inch-deep rain garden along the street edge connected to the roof downspout. Together these practices reduce runoff from the site, promote groundwater recharge, and add native plant habitat along an urban residential streetscape that drains to the White Clay Creek watershed.
